The following is a special message from a transit advocacy group called TTC Riders.
Hello Members of BIA's across Toronto,
My name is Robyn Vilde and I am an organizer with a transit advocacy group called TTC Riders. I wanted to get in touch with you to inform you, your members and board members about four consultations being held by the city of Toronto regarding the upload of the subway and Bill 107, also referred to as the Getting Ontario Moving Act. Bill 107 gives the provincial government the power to; seize city and TTC assets without compensation (exempting such action from the Expropriations Act), stops the TTC and the city from playing any role in planning or the construction of new "rapid transit" projects, and allows the province to overrule any existing Act or bylaw including the Planning Act and the Environmental Protection Act. I have listed the consultation dates below;
Thursday, June 13, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Father Serra Catholic School
111 Sun Row Drive, Etobicoke
Thursday, June 20, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
North York Memorial Community Hall
5510 Yonge Street, North York
Saturday, June 22, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Scarborough Civic Centre
150 Borough Drive, Scarborough
Thursday, June 27, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
City Hall, Council Chamber
100 Queen Street West, Toronto
If members of your BIA are available to attend the meeting feel free to send them this information. Myself and other members of my organization will be in attendance and can also meet with your organization in the future as well to provide more information about Bill 107, we would also be happy to discuss other transit related issues as well. Feel free too reach out to me if you have any questions or other concerns as well.
Robyn Vilde
