MPV Comedy Festival

The Mount Pleasant Village Comedy Festival has completed it’s inaugural season! We hope you enjoyed the shows. Thank you to our all our talented performers and  amazing volunteers. Our free summer series offered a diverse slate highlighting some of Toronto’s most compelling comedic voices.

Laugh out loud with 3 amazing comics performing live on the beautiful patio at Smokeshow BBQ & Brew! Your MC this afternoon is Adam Carter, a winner of SiriusXM’s Canada’s Top Comic competition, and a writer and editor for This Hour Has 22 Minutes and the Baroness von Sketch Show. Next up is the hilarious Lexa Graham, creator of the science comedy website DNAtured Journal, Lexa has written for Reductress, The Onion, and CBC Comedy. Our Festival Headliner this afternoon is Evan Carter, one of Canada’s most seasoned and versatile performers. Evan has worked on numerous television shows such as George Stromboulopoulos Tonight, plus multiple half hour specials for the CBC and The Comedy Network.

It’s another summer evening of laughs!  This week’s host is Cameron Phoenix a JFL Stand-Up and Pitch finalist with a history of accolades from the Comedy Store and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. We’ll also welcome actress and comedian, Janice Israeloff, star of the Fringe Festival hit, Cringemom. Next up is Talk From Superheroes podcast host, Andrew Ivimey, who has logged performances at Just For Laughs, The Second City, NXNE and the Edmonton Comedy Festival. Closing our show is actor, comedian, Dad, Chef and sometimes flight attendant, Sammy Farid. With his natural story-telling ability, Sammy continues to delight audiences around the globe.

Leonard Chan hosts with a sharp wit honed at comedy festivals across the country including Just For Laughs and New York’s Stand Up NBC. His TV credits include This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Kim’s Convenience and Strays. 2024 Boston Comedy Festival Winner Anjelica Scannura opens the show. She’s won accolades at the Cleveland Comedy Festival, Seattle Int’l Comedy Competition, and Edmonton Comedy Festival. Ian Fergus is the funny farmer turned comedian, and is a regular at The Corner Comedy Club. Performing across the country, Ian shares his lighthearted humour and witty observations with down-to-earth charm. We welcome award-winning George Westerholm as tonight’s headliner. George has worked on numerous television shows including The Rick Mercer Report, and This Hour Has 22 Minutes and has performed across Canada, the US and Britain. His show, ‘Unscheduled Stopover’ was nominated at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Matt DiSero has worked with greats in comedy, magic and the writing communities. He has starred on  Penn and Teller’s Fool Us, and has headlined shows at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood California. We are thrilled to present this mega-talented entertainer at the MPV Comedy Festival!

Mount Pleasant Village BIA is thrilled to host Toronto’s top Improv comics for a hilarious evening of unscripted anything-can-happen comedy. This week’s show features performances by the amazing Sarah Hillier, Andrew Bushell and Ron Pederman with Musical Director Matt Reid.  Everyone will love this kind of interactive fun that’s been leaving Mount Pleasant audiences in stitches. Toronto’s top comics will be here to tickle your funny bone! It’s another electric night of laugh-out-loud performances you don’t want to miss. The Mount Pleasant Village Comedy Festival is always hilarious and always FREE! 

Tonight’s host is a winner of the prestigious King Gong Competition at the Comedy Store, the hilarious Cameron Phoenix. A finalist at JFL’s Stand-Up and Pitch, Cameron performs regularly at the Edinburgh Fringe and has recorded for JFL Originals at Just For Laughs Toronto.

We welcome our opening act, Tailgate Talent Show host Kyle Bergstresser. Kyle has been featured on Sirius XM, NXNE, The Oddblock Comedy Festival, The Brantford Comedy Fest and The Winnipeg Comedy Showcase.

Our headliner is a teacher by day who makes parents laugh by night! Moe Ismail is an Egyptian-Canadian stand-up comedian bringing new levels of energy and diversity to Mount Pleasant Village’s Curbside Stage. Touring and acclaimed across Canada, Moe was selected as one of Just For Laughs New Faces in Montreal and was chosen by the Canadian Academy of Film and Television to host the Prism Prize Awards.
