Mount Pleasant Village is home to many world-class restaurants, but sometimes it can be hard to decide what to order when everything sounds so delicious. Well, we’ve made your decision much easier, with some food and drink pairings perfect for a summer day!
At Origin
If you just need a mid-day pick-me-up but want to enjoy it outside, At Origin Coffee has some wonderful outdoor seating this summer. An iced americano is the perfect drink choice on a hot summer day. It is refreshing and will give you a much-needed boost. We’d suggest a raspberry scone to fill your tummy because who doesn’t love fresh fruit in their baked goods.
Granite Brewery
Granite Brewery’s new summer beers are coming out soon and are perfect for this patio season. Sit down and enjoy a brew on their front or back patio all summer long!
Currently available is a Belgian Saison called First Trip to Belgium (4.1%). This beer has notes of banana and cloves with a slightly peppery finish. It may be low in alcohol, but it is the perfect drink for summer as it is delicate and refreshing. This beer pairs excellently with seafood, so why not enjoy a nice plate of fish and chips on a hot sunny day.
For a citrusy beer, try the Summer Ale (4%). The light beer has a wonderful biscuity malt characteristic and a slightly bitter finish, perfect for any curry! Try it with their lamb curry, butter chicken or curry special of the week.
If you’re in the mood for traditional pub faire, like their world class chicken wings, their Grapefruit Lagoon (6%) is perfect! It also has loads of citrus flavour and a bitter finish, but this beer is an IPA! In the mood for a lighter meal, this beer pairs perfectly with their blackened salmon salad.

Wild Chicory
Wild Chicory is known for its seasonal pairings, and there is nothing that says summer more than sangria. Have a seat out on their patio with a refreshing glass of white sangria and enjoy one of their refreshing appetizers, like the compressed watermelon salad. This salad has watermelon, mint, lime, and feta cheese. Yum!
Shibui
If you’re in the mood for a deal, Shibui offers half-priced Sake every Monday, and there is no more perfect a drink for your next sushi feast.
Sake is the national beverage of Japan and can be served warm or cold, and Shibui has quite the selection! Check it out next time you’re in the mood for delicious Japanese food.

Piano Piano

There is no doubt that pasta and red wine are the perfect pairing, but if you feel like you’re in the mood to mix it up, Piano Piano has some cocktails that are simply to die for.
Try the chopped salad with salami, olives, onions, pickled cucumbers, chickpeas, crisp polenta, brussel sprouts, and feta! We’d suggest their Italian Trotter Cocktail with rye, Cynar, grapefruit and lemon juice, ginger beer and mint to go with such a refreshing salad.
And if you feel like going the traditional route, they have a large selection of wines and pasta. A great choice would be the Tortelli con Bolognese and a glass of Barbera, a red wine that pairs well with rich sauces.
Don’t fret if you are a beer lover and feel left out. For a more elevated experience than your usual delivery pizza and beer, try any of their delicious gourmet pizzas with a bottle of Peroni, an Italian pale lager.
Smokeshow BBQ and Brew
Barbequing is the epitome of summer, but why not level up the experience by visiting the Smokeshow BBQ and Brew patio. They serve delicious barbeque favourites in a rustic and welcoming atmosphere.
Our suggestion, go with their smoked ribs, offered in a full or half rack. Enjoy your meal with Anderson’s IPA, a refreshing beer with a hint of citrus, melon, stone fruit, and floral notes.
If ribs aren’t your style, no need to worry. They also offer a variety of other delicious barbeque items such as brisket, pulled pork and barbeque chicken. The restaurant even has a smoked pulled jackfruit sandwich for all the vegetarians.
Domaine MaMo
Summer is all about fresh! At Domaine MaMo, you can get a bone-in pork chop with an apricot, peach and mint salsa! To go with this, try the Tomato Farci, a roasted tomato stuffed with herby quinoa. They suggest enjoying this meal with a nice glass of Rosé.
Conclusion
There is truly nothing better than a good meal and a refreshing drink on a hot day. Whether you go for a suggestion of ours or not, you can’t go wrong with any of the patios on Mount Pleasant.
Don’t forget to use the #PatiosOnMountPleasant on all social media platforms to share your patio experience! We’d love to hear about your favourite food-and-drink pairings in the neighbourhood.
