Q: What makes our neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant Village special, in your opinion?
A: Oh my gosh, there are so many things I love about Mount Pleasant Village that makes it special. Especially since I both live and work here. I love that it’s family-friendly and there are lots of things to do with our kids and other children for them to play with. The walkability to so many great small businesses, shops, restaurants and parks. We always enjoy going to the various festivals put on by the BIA and local events. It’s a wonderful community filled with friendly people who truly want to make it a better place.

Q: Tell us about another business owner in Mount Pleasant Village who inspires you and why.
A: Sharon inspires me with her shop Collected Joy. I really like how she showcases small-batch Canadian-made products from designers, makers and creatives. I think it’s really important to shop and support local small businesses. Her staff and space are very inviting. It’s a great place to find something for yourself or a gift for a special someone.

Q: What do you hope your customers feel when they step through your door?
A: When people shop in my online store, I want them to feel good about what they are buying and know that they are getting something special for themselves while shopping consciously and supporting the environment. We make all-natural ethical and sustainable skincare to help you make the best choices possible while making you feel amazing.

Q: You have something to celebrate. Where are you going for a toast with friends or a special meal in Mount Pleasant Village?
A: My husband and I are addicted to the Fried Chicken Club at The Belsize. Sometimes we’ll sneak away together to grab them for lunch. During the pandemic, we ordered them for take-out one Valentine’s day, popped a bottle of bubbly, and ended with chocolates from Ambiance Chocolat.

Thank you Caley-Beth!

Q: What makes our neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant Village special, in your opinion?
A: The shops on Mount Pleasant have a very authentic feel and I find the food and services to be of particularly high quality. This street is somewhat of a hidden gem – many stores offer luxury items or services. There aren’t many chains, so it makes the experience of going from store to store extraordinary.

Q: Tell us about another business owner in Mount Pleasant Village who inspires you and why.
A: Dawn, who owns Rewind Couture, is a great story. She opened her store 7 or 8 years ago as a very young girl with a revolutionary vision. She did very well for herself and her brand right away. She’s so smart and so pleasant to talk to. She’s worked so hard to build a beautiful store and a beautiful life for herself.

Q: What do you hope your customers feel when they step through your door?
A: Our clients are usually other large businesses or municipalities. They want to know that we are professionals and that we are thorough and meticulous. I put a lot into the design of the store because I want my clients to see that we care about everything and I think it comes through.

Q: You’re getting ready to host a party. Where are you doing your shopping in Mount Pleasant Village to prepare?
A: If I’m having a party, I’m going to Jules to pick up something freshly baked or in season. I’m also going to Foxies to pick up dessert. Granite Brewery is a good spot to pick up beverages that you just can’t find anywhere else. The next day I’m going to Jen’s (The Village Health Clinic) for a vitamin drip to detox from my party (lol).

Thanks, Elissa!

Q: What makes our neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant Village special, in your opinion?
A: Mount Pleasant Village boasts a strong sense of community. Our growing neighbourhood is supported by the diverse shops and services lining the street and these small businesses, by the BIA. The beautification of streetscapes through a mixture of art murals, planters and bench seating combined with the parkland makes this neighbourhood desirable to visit and live in. I love that our neighbourhood is encouraged to socialize and connect through planned events and activities.

Q: Tell us about another business owner in Mount Pleasant Village who inspires you and why.
A: Cüneyt and Mehtap, co-founders of At Origin Coffee, are not just coffee roasters serving up delicious, single origin java, they are humble entrepreneurs who have pursued their life’s passions. Their vision has become a reality as they embrace each customer. They have created a business around a single ingredient and by focusing on quality they have produced an authentic cup of coffee. What makes their business stand out is the experience that they have created, right down to the details of their logo design, mosaic coffee tables and homage to Turkish pastries. Small businesses like this are the heartbeat of local communities.

Q: What do you hope your customers feel when they step through your door?
A: My Animal is your friendly neighbour, welcoming every person and every paw into our meticulously designed hospital. When a client walks through the door, they will know that the sole focus of our clinic is to provide the highest caliber of veterinary care in a space that is both functional and beautiful. Our warm light combined with an extensive use of glass and state-of-the-art medical equipment creates a sense of transparency and belonging. It is important to us that you and life’s greatest companions feel a part of our family.

Q: You’re taking your kids or little ones around for a day of fun in Mount Pleasant Village. Where are you going?
A: When our little humans are in tow, we head to Mabel’s Fables Bookstore to browse and purchase a special book for bedtime. We are sure to never leave without saying hello to the resident cat, Mabel. Our day would not be complete without a cup of mouth-watering hot chocolate from Ambiance Chocolat. It’s like a warm hug on the inside.

Thank you Tanya!
